Bright Futures Circle

Ensuring all children, no matter their abilities, are equipped to lead full and rewarding lives.

Researchers believe that 80% of learning is visual, making early detection of visual impairments essential.

Without timely and targeted intervention, children with blindness and visual impairments face a high risk of delays in developing motor skills, cognitive functions, social communication, and social relationships. These delays can have long-lasting impacts on their education and career opportunities. However, we know that with the right tools and strong support from families and communities, children can overcome any obstacle.

Beyond Blindness is the only provider in the Greater Orange County area, outside of medical care, serving children from prenatal age to age 22, with a unique focus on vision and related developmental delays. Additionally, we are the only disability care provider in Orange County that offers full-day childcare for children with complex and behavioral needs. We are proud to serve this vulnerable population in a way that supports the whole family. However, this is a highly specialized field, making treatment and services more complex and costly. We are only able to provide our breadth of services because of underwriting from philanthropic donors, making generous partners like you central to our mission.

Funds raised support our signature Journey of Care®, a comprehensive, holistic model that provides services in homes, at our Santa Ana campus, and in schools across Orange County.

“I know Liliana’s eyesight can never be fixed but because of Beyond Blindness, she has made so many improvements with the limited vision she has. It gives me so much hope for the future.”

Michele Allegretto, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Glaukos

“Beyond Blindness has long advocated for early detection and intervention, so I personally contribute each month and encouraged my employer, Glaukos, to become a sponsor as well. We want kids to have access to the best care possible.”

“The care my two children receive for their visual impairments has made such a difference in our lives. When we come to campus, their sibling joins them, and that inclusion and support for the whole family means the world to us. The way Beyond Blindness brings together children with blindness, visual impairments and other disabilities with typically developing children is the truest reflection of the real world.”

Dr. Ashish Mehta, Pediatric Ophthalmologist, Orange County Kaiser Permanente

“The services that Beyond Blindness provides are resource-intensive, requiring equipment, expertise, staffing, and more. Without Beyond Blindness, these kids are unlikely to receive the comprehensive and consistent care they need to achieve their highest level of independence. Those who are the most vulnerable among us deserve our support.”
