About Next Steps Camp

Next Steps Summer Camp is a dynamic, hands‑on day camp designed to help students ages 10+ with visual impairments build confidence, independence, and practical life skills. Through real‑world experiences and guided community outings, campers gain the tools they need to navigate daily life and prepare for future transitions—all in a supportive, encouraging environment.

July 13-17, 2026 | 9:00am - 3:00pm
Camp begins each morning at Beyond Blindness. Transportation for adventures off-site is included.

What Campers Will Learn

Our program blends instruction with real‑world practice to promote independence and self‑advocacy. Campers will explore:

  • Public Transportation

  • Budgeting & Money Handling

  • Community Outings

  • College & Career Readiness

  • Assistive Technology & Navigation

  • Independent Living, Fitness & Recreation

Is this Program the Right Fit for Your Child?

Next Steps Summer Campers must be able to:

  • Participate in community outings without 1:1 aide support
  • Manage personal care and feeding needs independently during camp hours
  • Follow group directions and safety expectations within community settings
  • Participate safely in bus and train transportation activities
  • Transition between multiple community locations with the staffing supports provided
